Chorlton was once a village three miles to the South of Manchester and still has a strong ‘villagey’ feel, retaining a medieval footprint and communal green at its centre. It is famed for its independent shops, bars and cafes and its strong emphasis on being sustainable and local. It’s all about ‘being different like everyone else’.
Although Chorlton CoHousing members come from anywhere, there is a strong desire to be part of neighbourhood life. We want to build a community that is both mutually supportive and supportive of the wider community within which we live, through participation in local activities, a prioritisation of shopping local, and the possibility of hosting classes, events and meetings with well-designed and fully accessible facilities.
